What is ScriptLife?
ScriptLife turns scripts into performed audio. Paste a stage play, radio drama, or screenplay and every character gets a distinct AI voice. You can listen to the result as an Audio Drama with ambient sound effects or as a clean Table Read with voices only.
All performances are AI-generated. ScriptLife does not use recordings of real actors.
Who is it for?
Directors hearing a script before auditions. Writers testing dialogue. Stage managers sharing rehearsal audio with a cast. Youth theatre groups preparing for a production in a safe, adult-led environment.
Audio Drama vs Table Read
These are two playback modes over the same generated assets. You do not need to generate twice.
- Audio Drama plays the full experience: character voices, ambient sound, and one-shot sound effects timed to the script.
- Table Read plays character voices only, in order, with no sound effects. It is the clean read-through.
You can switch between modes at any time during playback. Both modes use the same underlying voice assets and manifest.
Rehearsal Mode
Rehearsal Mode lets a cast member select which characters they are playing. Lines for those characters are suppressed during playback so the performer can speak them live. A cue card shows the suppressed line text so you always know what comes next.
Rehearsal Mode currently works on a single device. It helps a performer rehearse against ScriptLife's generated cast audio, but it does not yet support synced multi-device sessions.
Sharing
General and Adult scripts
The account owner can enable sharing on a generated script. General scripts can be shared as public links. Adult scripts require the recipient to be signed in.
Youth Safe scripts
Youth Safe scripts are always shared as private links with a passcode. They are never public. The adult account holder decides who receives access and is responsible for how that access is managed during rehearsal.
The adult account holder manages all Youth Safe sharing decisions.
Youth Safe
Youth Safe is a workspace mode designed for scripts performed by under-18s. When Youth Safe is active:
- The script passes through a moderation gate before generation
- Sharing is private and passcode-only by default
- Youth Safe playback pages show a clear AI-generated performance disclosure
- An abuse reporting link is always visible
- No sign-up prompts are shown on Youth Safe pages
There are no minor accounts. The adult account holder is responsible for all Youth Safe content and sharing decisions.
Credits and the closed beta
During the closed beta, trial access is provided as a credit grant on your account rather than through a payment checkout. This trial grant covers scripts up to 30 lines.
Standard credits cover scripts up to 60 lines (1 credit) or 61 to 120 lines (2 credits). Scripts above 120 lines should be split by act or scene. Credits are only consumed when generation completes successfully.
What is not yet available
The following features are not part of the current closed beta and are not available yet:
- Public self-serve sign-up
- Participant links and PIN-based cast access
- MP3 or MP4 export
- Multi-device synced rehearsal
- Video generation
- Native mobile apps
